Mansfield, Texas was incorporated in 1890 when it had a population of a little over 400. Today it is at 60,000 and growing, quickly. Texas Hardwood Flooring began to service this fine city approximately almost fifty years ago, offering the finest in hardwood floor installation.
The city of Mansfield began in 1860, springing up along Walnut Creek. The focus of the settlement eventually became the grist mill built by two fellows named Man and Feild – hence the name Mansfield (the “I” and “e” eventually being swapped by popular demand). This city’s rich history is chronicled in a fine museum and heritage center in the venerable McKnight Building in the historic downtown area.
Mansfield is a popular family-friendly city because of its good schools, great homes, and access to the entertainment centers of Ft. Worth and Arlington, and, of course, the Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport. Their motto is “Come for the location, stay for the fun.” The city sponsors festivals and hometown celebrations as well as recreation and sports. The city’s Parks and Recreation Department runs eleven parks that include fifty acres of athletic fields and other rec facilities.
One of the more fascinating places in town is Big League Dreams, a huge facility that has scaled down replicas of notable major league ballparks like Fenway Park, Globe Life Park, Yankee Stadium and Wrigley Field. These parks are available for little league baseball, adult softball and soccer leagues. They also have an indoor soccer pavilion, batting cages, and a restaurant.
The arts are not forgotten in Mansfield, Texas, either. In fact, the Mansfield Commission of the Arts is an active non-profit tasked with making the city a destination for cultural activities. One of the on-going projects is the “Mansfield 88” painted pianos, which is just what it says. You can find the beginnings of this public art project in various locations around downtown. In addition, another exciting location is the Live Outdoor Theater Downtown, a.k.a. The LOT, where folks can enjoy live music and theatrical presentations.
The downtown area is being revitalized and local businesses host the monthly Third Thursday event which starts at five p.m. You can “shop, stroll, relax, taste, party, sip, run and play on Main Street,” visiting sidewalk vendors, street art, buskers, and food trucks. As the city itself states: “From recreation and sports, to festivals and hometown celebrations, the year brings a variety of activities for everyone to enjoy.”
Mansfield is truly a fine example of a burgeoning Texas hometown, and Texas Hardwood Flooring is pleased to serve all her hardwood flooring needs, including installing, repairing and refinishing. Contact our experienced team for help with your home or business today!
