Typically engineered floors are not manufactured to be refinished. There is only a very thin layer of wood on a plywood plank. Occasionally, if the engineered floor has a significant enough wear layer, it may be a candidate for refinishing.

Solid hardwood floors can typically be refinished. Floors are sanded to the natural wood, custom stain, and finished to clients’ specifications. Samples of the new stain are placed on your floor for your approval. Floors are stained and protected with water or oil-based polyurethane and could last a lifetime, depending on foot traffic.

Typically, we recommend doing the floors after any significant renovation of countertops, islands, or moving walls and before painting so that potential dust or debris will be eliminated after the floor is installed. Our project managers will be happy to discuss these options with you.

Typically, we schedule a formal measure of your property and then an appointment in our showroom to select your flooring, or we bring samples. That way, we can provide an accurate estimate with exact measurements, considering foundation type, door and cabinet heights, etc. If you prefer, we can schedule an appointment in the showroom before the formal measure.

There is nothing like a beautiful floor to update or elevate your home. There are several factors to consider when deciding what flooring product to install in your home, including selecting a floor that will protect your investment and add to your home’s value when the day comes to resell. Other factors include lifestyle, young children, pets, budget, overall home design, and type of foundation. Our project managers can answer all questions to help you make that decision.
