Imagine you go over to your neighbor’s home for a party. He is showing off his new floor and proudly states that it’s made of engineered hardwood flooring. Another neighbor chimes in with a laugh and says that the fake floor won’t last. Is there any truth to this? You may have seen or heard some information about engineered hardwood flooring that might make you wonder what is true and what is not. Here are some of the rumors that have been circulating about engineered hardwood floors:
Are engineered floors fake?
Absolutely not. Engineered floors are made of real wood. Typically, these floors use real wood panels applied to plywood or another strong flooring material. These materials are packed together tightly to resist hard blows, as well as to keep them strong and beautiful.
Do engineered floors get damaged easily?
You may think that since the price is lower for an engineered hardwood floor that it must also be “cheap” and broken easily. This is not so. These floors are made to last just as long as any other hardwood floor selection you might make.
Do engineered floors look bad?
Not at all! We use real hardwood over the planks, which means no one will be able to tell once the flooring is installed. In addition, using engineered floors demands less of the expensive wood. This means you will be able to purchase a more expensive type of wood that may not have been affordable if the floor was made entirely from that species of wood.
