DFW Local Hardwood Floor Experts With Over 50 Years Experience!
Custom on-site finished hardwood is the “top of the line” in flooring.
The advantages are many. The floors look and feel solid and are 100% natural. They last a lifetime and can be refinished two to three times, whether to refurbish the floor or to change the floor’s color to match a new décor in the home.
They are custom from start to finish and require skilled installers. A custom hardwood floor is a work of art created to reflect the home’s uniqueness and the homeowner’s design aesthetic.
At Texas Hardwood Flooring, our installers have passed down from generation to generation. We are one of the few flooring companies in DFW that specialize in installing, refinishing, and repairing solid hardwood floors.

Why Install a Custom Onsite Finished Hardwood Floor?
For personalized luxury in hardwood flooring, only custom finishing will do.
This is the most elegant and sophisticated flooring option, so consider an on-site custom finish for your hardwood flooring in any room in your home that demands the best in quality finishes.
Truly the “luxury edition” of flooring, our on-site custom hardwood floor finishing, you have complete creative control over your wood floor’s appearance!
You choose the exact design of your floor by deciding on:
- The color of the stain or stains
- The species of wood used
- The grain pattern
- Layout and design element

Customization includes…
Species:
Red or white oak is typically used in Texas, but Pine, Hickory, and Acacia are also used.
Pattern:
Usually, boards are laid horizontally in a room to maximize the effect of space. Homeowners can incorporate complex patterns like herringbone, basket weave, Bordeaux, and Chantilly patterns into all or part of the project to emphasize an entryway, for example.
Texture:
The degree of smoothness or hand scrape can be chosen, from a smooth floor to a rustic, distressed look.
Grade:
Grades include #2, #1, common, select, quarter sawn, and rift & quarter. The grade of wood will determine the amount of “character” in the finished floor.
Color:
The color may be natural wood all the way to a dark Mahogony or even black. We sometimes use a combination of stains to get the desired color. Samples of the stain are put on the floor to see exactly how it will look in the home’s natural light. The trend we are seeing is a lighter finish, but more traditional homes often opt for a darker, richer stain.
Sheen:
The sealant applied to protect them varies from matte to glossy, depending upon the homeowner’s preference.
These customizations play into creating the ideal floor as a foundation, setting the tone for the design carried out in the rest of the home’s colors, furnishings, and wall treatments.
Our project managers discuss these choices with us on every project, ensuring a beautiful floor. In our showroom, we have dedicated one entire room to species, grades, stain colors and sheens so that our customers can visualize their floor.
This process should not be hurried!
Solid hardwood must acclimate to the humidity level in the home which takes a few days. After the wood has acclimated, it is time for the sanding, followed by staining and the application of a polyurethane finish. When the floors are ready, you will find that it was well worth the wait! Texas Hardwood Flooring, for all your DFW flooring needs.

What Our Customers Say
The team completely transformed our home in Grand Prairie with site-finished Red Oak floors, custom hand-scraping, and a matching stain. The craftsmanship is truly top-tier—the stairs are now a major highlight of our home and turned out even better than imagined. The crew was professional and very polite throughout the project.
Aside from some minor delays on logistics, the quality of the final result completely overshined everything else. If you want a high-end result from a team that truly knows their craft, I highly recommend them—the quality of their work is second to none!
We started by revitalizing the original hardwoods. In my opinion, nothing beats the character of natural wood; the look and feel are both calming and sophisticated. Jesse was instrumental in helping us navigate the staining process. He walked us through different shades to find a tone that brightens the rooms by day, but feels warm and soothing when the sun sets and the lights dim.
For the kitchen and guest bedroom, we had a clean slate. We wanted an urban, "Amsterdam-inspired" energy that welcomed the spirit of the city into the home. Jesse and his team took our initial ideas and hit a home run—the brick tile herringbone they installed is, to this day, my favorite feature of the house.
The craftsmanship is undeniable. The transitions between the wood and tile are seamless, and the installation is flawless. Throughout the process, the team was professional, kept a clean worksite, and stayed perfectly on schedule. If you need a team with true creative vision and incredible attention to detail, I cannot recommend Texas Hardwood Flooring enough!
We’ve hired Texas Hardwood Flooring three times now. They’ve been prompt, efficient, and clean—each project came in under budget, and the hardwood floors look beautiful every time. I’d recommend them to anyone.
Would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to refinish or install hardwood floors — I’d 100% work with them again!
