DFW Local Hardwood Floor Experts With Over 50 Years Experience!
The advantages are many. The floors look and feel solid and are 100% natural. They last a lifetime and can be refinished two to three times, whether to refurbish the floor or to change the floor’s color to match a new décor in the home.
They are custom from start to finish and require skilled installers. A custom hardwood floor is a work of art created to reflect the home’s uniqueness and the homeowner’s design aesthetic.
At Texas Hardwood Flooring, our installers have passed down from generation to generation. We are one of the few flooring companies in DFW that specialize in installing, refinishing, and repairing solid hardwood floors.
Ask about how you can save 20% on installation!
This is the most elegant and sophisticated flooring option, so consider an on-site custom finish for your hardwood flooring in any room in your home that demands the best in quality finishes.
Truly the “luxury edition” of flooring, our on-site custom hardwood floor finishing, you have complete creative control over your wood floor’s appearance!
You choose the exact design of your floor by deciding on:
Red or white oak is typically used in Texas, but Pine, Hickory, and Acacia are also used.
Usually, boards are laid horizontally in a room to maximize the effect of space. Homeowners can incorporate complex patterns like herringbone, basket weave, Bordeaux, and Chantilly patterns into all or part of the project to emphasize an entryway, for example.
The degree of smoothness or hand scrape can be chosen, from a smooth floor to a rustic, distressed look.
Grades include #2, #1, common, select, quarter sawn, and rift & quarter. The grade of wood will determine the amount of “character” in the finished floor.
The color may be natural wood all the way to a dark Mahogony or even black. We sometimes use a combination of stains to get the desired color. Samples of the stain are put on the floor to see exactly how it will look in the home’s natural light. The trend we are seeing is a lighter finish, but more traditional homes often opt for a darker, richer stain.
The sealant applied to protect them varies from matte to glossy, depending upon the homeowner’s preference.
These customizations play into creating the ideal floor as a foundation, setting the tone for the design carried out in the rest of the home’s colors, furnishings, and wall treatments.
Our project managers discuss these choices with us on every project, ensuring a beautiful floor. In our showroom, we have dedicated one entire room to species, grades, stain colors and sheens so that our customers can visualize their floor.
Solid hardwood must acclimate to the humidity level in the home which takes a few days. After the wood has acclimated, it is time for the sanding, followed by staining and the application of a polyurethane finish. When the floors are ready, you will find that it was well worth the wait!
