Richardson TX Hardwood Flooring Installation Team
Richardson, Texas, founded in 1873, was one of the first of the suburban Dallas cities to blossom. In the 1950s and ’60s, it was a “bedroom community” of choice for commuters to downtown Dallas, with the population growing from 1,300 to 55,000 between 1950 and 1970. Since around that time, we have been serving this community with hardwood flooring installation in new and old homes and businesses!
Richardson, Texas: Ideal Suburban Living
Richardson ranks high on many lists of “best places to live” or “best places to raise kids” in the U.S., according to combinations of metrics that include economy, education, housing, crime, leisure, and infrastructure. Important to its livability is Richardson Independent School District, one of the highest-rated districts in the state.
Although it was a commuter hub for many years, in recent years Richardson has become an economic and business magnet of its own. During the workday, the population of Richardson swells from 100,000 to 140,000 as workers pour into the city! Major businesses have migrated to this mid-sized city, giving it a major tax base.
Corporate headquarters in Richardson include MetroPCS, Fossil, Wingstop and Lennox International. Other major employers in the city include AT&T, State Farm, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Verizon, Cisco, Fujitsu, and Samsung. The “telecom corridor” along US 75/Central Expressway is a major player in the world telecommunications scene. Part of the reason is that the University of Texas-Dallas (UTD) is actually located in Richardson, a campus of over 21,000 students, many of them majoring in telecommunications and various kinds of engineering; many of these students do extensive internships at local companies and are often hired out of school. Incidentally, Richardson also is home to Richland College, the largest community college in the Dallas County Community College system, a beautiful campus with 14,000 students!
Another interesting thing to note in Richardson is its growing Asian-immigrant community. The DFW “Chinatown” is actually in Richardson; 12% of the population identifies as Asian, and there are a number of Chinese and Indian cultural organizations rooted here. Many of the students at UTD are from these nations, both graduate and undergraduate. As a result, Richardson has a large and wonderful selection of various authentic Asian restaurants to choose from.
Richardson, Texas has proven itself to be an eager supporter of culture and the arts. The city boasts the Eisemann Center, a world-class entertainment venue that features traveling shows and local productions in their 1,600-seat theatre, a 400-seat theater and a 350-seat multi-use space. For 25 years Richardson has hosted the spectacular Wildflower Arts and Music Festival every May, with national and local acts, arts and crafts vendors, great eats and general merriment.
The municipal government has created both a Public Art Master Plan and a Cultural Arts Master Plan, and actively administers an arts grant program. Over two dozen arts groups, from Richardson Theatre Center to the Dallas Asian-American Youth Orchestra to the Spectacular Senior Follies, avail themselves of Richardson’s commitment to culture.
